[Standard British] March 6 1:00-2:30 pm EST

In this workshop, students will master one of the most commonly encountered dialects in theatre, film, TV, and voiceover: Standard British! Also known as “Received Pronunciation” or “RP,” this upper class accent is one of the easiest to learn and an essential for any actor to have in their back pocket. Students will achieve the Standard British sound through the manipulation of vocal placement and IPA, which will be taught during the first hour of the workshop; the second hour will be spent applying their newfound skills to scenic material.

[Irish] April 3 12:30-2:00 pm EST

In this workshop, students will master one of the most challenging dialects in theatre, film, TV, and voiceover: Irish! Though it may prove tricky at first, it is well worth the extra effort–the intrinsically musical cadence of the Irish accent is not only pleasing to the ear, but pleasing to perform, as well! Once you’ve got the hang of it–which is, in fact, possible in just one session–you’ll find you won’t want to stop! Students will achieve the Irish sound through the manipulation of vocal placement and IPA, which will be taught during the first hour of the workshop; the second hour will be spent applying their newfound skills to scenic material.

In fact, the particular sound that Natalie teaches is both subtle and versatile enough to cover any Southern state that a character you’re playing might be from! Students will achieve the American Southern sound through the manipulation of vocal placement and IPA, which will be taught during the first hour of the workshop; the second hour will be spent applying their newfound skills to scenic material.
